Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, 2 hours north-west from Nairobi City. The Name Naivasha originated from Maasai word Nai’posha meaning rough water. The lake has a depth of 6 meters and 139 square kilometers but depth and surface areas changes in case of heavy rainfall where water level rises. Lake Naivasha is surrounded forest of yellow barked acacia and other forest trees, resorts accommodations, agricultural farms. The lake is also home to over 400 bird’s species. Major wildlife attractions at Mount Longonot include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles.
