Posted on Rahul VVerified Excellent tour package and a great guide Hyrax Safaris arranged a 6 days Kenya tour for us with visits to Nairobi Giraffe centre,Masai Mara safari, Amboseli Park drive and Lake Naivasha visit. We were truly impressed with the our drive and stay. They arranged the best hotels and a great driver cum Guide in Mr. Antony. We were able to see Herd of Elephants crossing along with lot of Giraffes, Topis,Wilder beasts, Wild Buffaloes, Cheetah and Lion. But the highlight was watching a Pride of lionesses. Antony was very patient and catered to all our requests. Special shoutout to Roselyn, the owner who arranged our itinerary as per our preferences. Great tour and Safari.Posted on Marc BVerified Wonderful visit to Masai Mara in March Hyrax arranged a personalized itinerary for me and my wife. We were picked up from our hotel in Nairobi and brought to Wilson Airport for a short 50 minute flight to Masai Mara. At the airstrip in Masai Mara, we were met by Benson! Benson was an absolutely amazing host. He is incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife, knows his way around, is deeply connected to a network of guides who share location information about sitings, and is able to spot animals far away and guide us to them. Benson is also a lovely person, and it was easy to spend 6 hours a day riding around the reserve with him.Hyrax gave us choices of lodging options within our budget. We selected Ashnil Mara, whose location on the river was a treat. From our table in the dining room, we could see and hear Hippos and Crocodiles at every meal. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and the food buffet was plentiful and varied. I highly recommend a visit to Masai Mara where you are sure to see the Big 5. Hyrax delivered everything they promised and made things simple.Posted on DSallVerified Unforgettable experience We went for a three day tour: Nairobi-Amboseli-Tsavo West, and Dropoff in Diani Beach. The accommodations were luxurious, very friendly personnel and amazing food. Special compliments to our guide Kasaine Senei. He made sure we`d manage to see all the animals on our list, and knew everything about the parks and its animals. Would recommend to everyone!Posted on keith nVerified The Mara has plenty of lions to see, be patient! Great driver in Eric who got us exceptional closeup photos of lioness and her cubs. 3rd safari, 1st in Masai Mara, and no complaints with the organization of the trip.Posted on Leoš KVerified 5-day hike to Mt. Kenya (Point Lenana) I had a chance to hike on Mt. Kenya (Point Lenana) this January and it was excellent experience. On Safaribookings I chose a Hyrax Safaris travel agency. They had a good price, free pick-up (I stayed close to the airport) and mainly they offered a 5-day hike which is better for acclimatisation to high altitude. I saw people trying to go in 4 days, some driving to Old Moses (first hut and campsite) by car and a few of them felt really bad (had to return or extended for one more night at Shipton´s hut). Also I wanted to see both Sirimon and Chogoria routes with unique and very different amazing landscapes. Most of tours return the same Sirimon route. All went smoothly, my experience with Hyrax Safaris could not be better. I went alone with my team - guide, chef and porter. First I was a liitle bit embarrased having so many people taking care for me (as usually hiking alone or with friends, carrying all things on my own). But this is the most common way to hike on Mt. Kenya, you give the job to locals and may learn a lot of them. And of course it is very pleasant not to carry all stuff in altitudes above 4000m (with tent, food, quite big backpack as I had to take warm clothes).Communication with the agency was easy, Emmah always replied quickly.A driver Samson picked me in time at my accommodation in Nairobi and very safely took me to the office (where I stored a part of my luggage) and then to start of the hike at Sirimon gate. The hiking team was wonderful. My guide Samuel had exceptional knowledge of all summits, plants, animals that we saw. He told me very interesting facts and stories. He was very careful about my physical/health conditon, also let me hike on my own pace. For a very cold night at 4200m in the tent (I had my own but old sleeping bag, air mattress, warm clothes) I was given a bottle with warm water - very useful as my 2 pairs of thick socks were not enough, it was freezing quite much at night). You may also take or rent equipment from the agency. All meals (3 per day) prepared by my chef Patrick were very tasty. Portions were big - he did not want me to loose any kilo of my weight during the hke :-)The porter - actually young portress Esta was very strong and fast even with my backpack and kitchen stuff - much faster then me.I had a great time with all my team.2 nights were spent at Shipton´s campsite - at 4200m. The 3rd day was used for acclimatisation hike to 4600m - a pass with a view to Naro Moru route with lakes and return down to campsite. It is highly recommended. I did it similarly on my treks in Nepal. I had some headache but only during descent from the Point Lenana summit (4985m), nothing serious. The way down from the summit to Chogoria (last kms through the forest on the 5th day were by car) was long but full of amazing views to lakes, a waterfall and a gorge. It would be great to have one more day there. Maybe next time. After return to Nairobi (shared matatu but fine) - first to the office, than they paid me a taxi to my accomodation - Daniel from the agency (manager and guide?) and porter Esta were very helpful to show me the way and accompany me to safe ATM, pharmacy and to a camping gear shop which I needed for my next travelling in Kenya. It all lasted maybe an hour and was for free. Highly appreciated. Suggestions - not much, maybe to provide some map printout with routes (not available at the gate). More than just a black tea could be served (also coffee and chocolate were availale) or you can take your own different tea bags. And though it was interesting I am not a big fan of night hikes to see sunrise from the frozen summit :-) I would prefer to start later than at 2:30am though I understand that we would reach last campsite (Bandas) maybe too late. I also don´t think it was written in the information about the hike that you will stay 2 nights at 4200m with a nice day ascent higher which was excellent for acclimatisation. I would definitely go again with Hyrax Safaris.Posted on Benjamin GVerified Solid guides, great choice for climbing mt Kenya I really enjoyed my time climbing my Kenya with hyrax safaris. My guide Daniel was a solid guide. Super fit and knowledgeable about the terrain/landscapes and nature. He would point out the different species of plant and animals, encourage us and always keep an eye out for us when we were climbing. His climbing experience is second to none. Our second guide, Sam, is also an experienced climber, having climbed mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro countless times. I really enjoyed hearing his stories and learning Swahili from him while climbing. 100% recommend. Go with hyrax and you won’t regret!Posted on Kevin HVerified 4 day hike of mount kenya We did the 4 day 3 night hiking tour of mount kenya and frankly it was spectacular. We had a private tour but was supported by a team of 5. We had everything we could need in the tour in terms of camping equipment, food and even porters helping you share the load. The hike itself is spectacular and I couldn’t recommend hydrax enough if you thinking of a Mount Kenya hike. The team are super friendly and made the whole experience stress free.Posted on Escape18275189163Verified Nice Safari Experience! We had a great 5 day safari. We had booked a private tour and were therefore able to enjoy it very much. The driver picked us up at our hotel in Nairobi and accompanied us for the whole 5 days. The driver was nice, but he wasn't very talkative, but we didn't mind that much. The hotels in the various national parks were very nice, there was always good food and the rooms were excellent. We saw all the Big Five. We would definitely recommend this company for a great safari experience!Posted on JanVerified Hyrax saved our vacation! I planned long time ago a visit to kenia with two friends and booked a safari with a tour operator (not Hyrax) who canceled the tour on short notice! I found Hyrax and get in touch with Roselyne only a few days before arrival in Nairobi and she instandly made a good offer for a one week private safari tour with Hyrax to Massia Mara and Lake Nakuru. Their suggestions and offer came very quick and in detail and so we booked the tour. Antony, the driver, picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the parks, lodges and all points of interest. He took care of everything regarding the tour organisation and drove very well. Very good was that he knows the parks very well so we saw a lot of animals: elephants, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffs, zebra, gnu, antilopes, lions, leopard, flamingos, pelican, eagle and many more. The lodges, that Hyrax booked for us, were absolutly fantastic and with higher standart than expected. I highly recommend Hyrax for your safari especially because I made the experience that a trustworthy and high professional tour operator is the most important to get a plesant safari!Posted on Traveler17182399034Verified Amazing We had a great experience with hyrax safari 3 days in Amboseli and Tsavo east The tour was costumized for the two of us Planning and support from hyrax was perfect Our driver Lenni has great driving skills and is also a great guide The tour was amazing and everything was exactly organized according our wishesWe had a bad experience with an other provider before but with hyrax everything was very easy and professionell so we would recommend to go with hyrax
